Gardens
OTR People’s Garden
This is a community garden made up of 4 vacant lots located on E. McMicken Ave in Over-the-Rhine. It was the first community garden in Cincinnati, established in 1980!
I was drawn to the garden years ago because it is an excellent example of people coming together to improve a neighborhood in the heart of Over-the-Rhine (OTR).
I’m a graduate of the Civic Garden Center’s Community Garden Development Training program and serve as one of the volunteer garden coordinators for OTR People's Garden.
East End Garden
This 1/3-acre lot, once vacant, will bloom again this Spring 2025, thanks to the city's Gardens + Greens Program.
Sunrock Farm
After 38 years of educating and inspiring the community, Sunrock Farm finally closed its gates to the public a few years ago.
My husband and I were instantly inspired by this amazing couple and the educational farm they created. We especially loved how the farm was dedicated to providing children and visitors with a rich and varied experience – emphasizing the senses and the realization that we are deeply connected to the natural world.
I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to be there, growing a large portion of my cut flowers in Sunrock Farm’s garden.
