Bengals Player Cam Taylor-Britt Visits St. Francis Seraph School

What started as a chance encounter with a golf cart full of Bengals players turned into something unforgettable. This past December, my husband and I found ourselves chanting “WHO DEY” side by side with #29 Cam Taylor-Britt! We were already huge fans after his amazing one-handed pick and teary-eyed after watching JUICE: The Story of Cam Taylor-Britt | FROM THE JUNGLE SPECIAL. When we saw him on the cart, he was so fun to chant with, and something told me to take a moment and send an email.

December 20, 2024—I was able to snap a quick video as the players were headed back to the stadium and we continued on to the flower farm and deliveries. Shortly after this picture was taken I began to write.

My husband Jeff aka Mr. Matthews is a dedicated gym and health teacher at St. Francis Seraph in OTR, where football and basketball are more than just sports—they’re lifelines for many of the students. He’s passionate about teaching the value of hard work, perseverance, and good grades as tools to chase their dreams. He had been trying to find guest speakers for his students at St. Francis Seraph School in OTR with not much success. Since I worked there for years before going full-time with The Flower Lady, I knew I wanted to help. So, between flower deliveries that same day we saw Cam on the cart, I wrote and asked if he would visit the school. A few days later, he said yes! It felt like a true Christmas miracle! And I must add Cam’s mom, Courtney, is one of the sweetest and most generous people, thank you so much for making this all possible. You’re the best!

Cam shared a powerful message with the students about staying focused, paying attention to who you hang around, and understanding your “why.” He had us inspired and laughing—he even joked that he would have gone into comedy if not for the NFL. We’re beyond grateful to Cam, his mom, his sister, and media @Twhy_filmz, for becoming such wonderful new friends to us and St. Francis Seraph School.

It’s incredible to see our Bengals team made up of men like Cam—kind, genuine and generous with their time. This experience is a reminder to seize the moment and take chances. You never know where it’ll lead.
